REV. DR. MYCAL X. BRICKHOUSE

Reverend Dr. Mycal Xavier Brickhouse is a dynamic leader, pastor, and catalyst for change whose work bridges faith, education, and community engagement. He serves as Program Director for the Fuller Forward Consortium at Fuller Theological Seminary, where he expands access to theological education through a $10 million Lilly Endowment Initiative. He has also held key leadership roles at Duke Divinity School, including Director of Alumni Relations and Managing Director of Programs and Grants for Leadership Education.
Rev. Brickhouse brings both academic excellence and lived experience to his ministry. He earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and African American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Duke Divinity School, where he was honored as the Julian Abele Student of the Year. Prior to coming to St. Luke, Rev. Brickhouse brought eight years of pastoral experience.
Committed to lifelong growth, he has completed prestigious programs such as the Black Theology and Leadership Institute at Princeton Theological Seminary and the Millennial Leaders Project at Union Theological Seminary. He is also trained in frontline fundraising through Plus Delta Partners.
Deeply engaged in his community, Rev. Brickhouse has served on the strategy team for One WAKE and sits on the Board of Directors for Neighbor Up, a faith-based nonprofit serving thousands in Wake County.
A respected voice in faith and public life, his writing has appeared in Sojourners, Faith & Leadership, and The Christian Recorder. BBC and NBC have featured him, and Broadleaf Publishing is set to release his forthcoming book in Spring 2028.
He is married to Kristin McCullough Brickhouse, and together they are raising three children—Micah, Manaia, and Makoa—in a home grounded in love and faith.
